Boko Haram Attack in Adamawa Kills Police Officer, Civilians

On Monday night, unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram attacked Gaya community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, resulting in the deaths of a police inspector and seven civilians. Dr Aliyu Saad, the chairman of Hong LGA, confirmed the attack in a telephone interview on Tuesday, stating that the attackers targeted two houses, set them ablaze, and caused fatalities.
The state police command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, reported that five bodies were recovered, including four civilians and the police inspector. A coordinated response involving military, police, hunters, and other security agencies has been initiated to locate the attackers.
This incident marks the eighth insurgent attack on Hong LGA this year. Additionally, a proposed military barracks intended for Garaha, near a main Boko Haram route into the Sambisa Forest, has yet to be established.
Hong is notably the hometown of two former Secretaries to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and Boss Mustapha.
