Boko Haram Attack in Adamawa Kills Eight, Injures Many
On Monday, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Gaya-Dlang community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, resulting in the deaths of seven civilians and one police officer. Eyewitnesses reported that the insurgents arrived on motorcycles shortly after 5 pm, shooting indiscriminately and abducting four middle-aged women, who later escaped.
The attackers also looted provision shops, stealing foodstuffs and non-food items, and set many houses ablaze. Aliyu Saad Yerima, Chairman of Hong LGA, confirmed the eight casualties and noted that many residents were injured while fleeing.
The police officer's body has been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Hong. SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, indicated that the attack was likely carried out by remnants of fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.
He mentioned that a search team had been dispatched to the area. This incident follows a similar attack in Zah community in Yadul District less than a month prior, which resulted in four deaths, including a Forest Guard official.
