Boko Haram Attacks Nigerian Army Base in Borno State

On Friday, Boko Haram launched an attack on the Nigerian Army base in Mandaragirau, located in the Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, at approximately 3 AM. The assault resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Haruna Sani, the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, reported that despite adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and poor visibility, the troops mounted a fierce counter-offensive. The attack underscored the resilience and courage of the personnel at the base, who faced the enemy's assault with determination.

Sani noted that the sacrifices made by the soldiers exemplified the highest traditions of service and commitment to national defense. Following the attack, three CJTF members were airlifted for medical care.

Local government sources confirmed the incident, indicating that the attack occurred with little resistance due to the weather. Samaila Kaigama, of the Borno South Youth Alliance, urged the government to enhance security measures and improve intelligence gathering regarding terrorist movements.
