Community Mourns Engineer Gani Adekunle's Passing

Engineer Gani Adekunle, referred to as Baba Adeola, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026. His death was felt deeply in Ile Asawo, Ede, Osun State, where he was regarded as a mentor and benefactor.

He was the son of the late Alhaji Jimoh Adekunle, a prominent figure in the community. Baba Adeola was known for his remarkable character, generosity, and impeccable appearance, embodying the Yoruba concept of Omoluabi.

He graduated in Civil Engineering from Yaba College of Technology and was part of a pioneering generation of professionals. His ownership of a Volkswagen Beetle in 1971 made him a symbol of aspiration in a community where private car ownership was rare.

His vehicle, with the registration number WC 5439, was a source of pride and excitement for local children. Engineer Adekunle's legacy includes his role in shaping the lives of many in his community, fostering a sense of dignity and kindness.
