Prominent Ibadan Chief Lekan Alabi Dies at 76

Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan, died at the age of 76 in Lagos following a brief illness. His burial is scheduled for Sunday at his residence in Akobo, Lagelu Local Government Area, Oyo State, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Prominent figures including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and Governor Seyi Makinde expressed their condolences. Oba Ladoja described Alabi's death as a significant loss to both the traditional institution and the Yoruba culture, emphasizing his contributions to the growth of the Olubadan-in-Council.

Governor Makinde referred to Alabi as a man of integrity and wisdom, whose impact on journalism and public service would be lasting. The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), through its President General, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewoke, expressed deep sadness at Alabi's passing, recognizing him as a symbol of excellence and a promoter of Ibadan's cultural heritage.
