Oyo Leaders Mourn Chief Lekan Alabi's Passing at 76

On Saturday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and Sharafadeen Alli, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, expressed their condolences following the death of Chief Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland. Alabi passed away in Lagos at the age of 76.

He was recognized as a veteran journalist, public affairs analyst, elder statesman, cultural icon, community leader, and served as press secretary to multiple former Oyo State governors. In a statement, Makinde described Alabi as a man of wisdom and integrity, emphasizing his commitment to Yoruba culture.

Ladoja recalled their shared upbringing and praised Alabi's achievements in journalism and public relations, calling his death devastating. Alli noted Alabi's towering presence in journalism and public service, highlighting his contributions to Ibadanland's progress.

They all acknowledged the significant loss to both the community and the journalism profession.
