Tesla's AI6 Chips Expected by December 2026, Says Musk

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, revealed that the company is in the design phase for its next-generation AI6 chips, which are expected to be finalized by December 2026. This development marks a significant step in Tesla's efforts to advance artificial intelligence and autonomous systems.

Musk shared this information via a post on the social media platform X, indicating that the AI6 chip is currently in the critical stage of semiconductor development. The chips are anticipated to power Tesla's future technologies, including self-driving vehicles and humanoid robots.

The AI6 chip is part of Tesla's broader strategy to deepen its artificial intelligence capabilities and reduce reliance on third-party suppliers. Samsung Electronics is expected to manufacture the chips following a reported $16.5 billion agreement, although mass production is not expected to commence until the second half of 2027.

The AI6 chips will utilize Samsung's advanced 2-nanometer semiconductor process, which offers improved performance and energy efficiency compared to older technologies.
