Elon Musk Launches Production of Tesla's Robotaxi

Elon Musk has commenced production of Tesla's 'robotaxi', a fully autonomous vehicle designed without a steering wheel or pedals. The announcement was made on a Friday, coinciding with Tesla's report of a first-quarter profit of $477 million, which exceeded expectations.

Musk shared a promotional video showcasing the robotaxi, referred to as 'cybercab', which was primarily filmed within the production facility. The video features multiple gold-colored cybercabs driving on the streets.

Tesla plans to begin offering robotaxi services to early access users, a program that started in Austin, Texas, last June. The first unveiling of the robotaxi was in the fall of 2024, with Musk predicting that the vehicles will be available to the general public by 2027.

Additionally, a photo was shared in February showing Tesla employees gathered around the first cybercab off the production line at Giga Texas.
