Rainstorm Causes Power Outages in Enugu Metropolitan Area

A severe rainstorm in Enugu on Sunday resulted in extensive damage to electrical infrastructure, leading to widespread power outages across the metropolitan area. Main Power Electric Distribution Limited confirmed that the blackout was caused by wire cuts on the Emen industrial line 1 and 2.

The incident affected distribution towers and disrupted supply to the Kei 33kV feeder, which is managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at the New Haven switch yard. Areas impacted include Tran Ekulu, Emen, Thinker Corner, Ituku, Ozalla, Ugwogo, Abakpa Nike, Nike Lake, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Many communities are currently without electricity. The technical team of the distribution company has commenced repair work to restore power as quickly as possible.

The company expressed regret over the disruption, describing the outage as an unforeseen development caused by severe weather conditions.
