Bandits Kill 32 in Niger Communities During Attack

On Saturday, a violent attack by over 200 bandits in Niger State led to the deaths of at least 32 people across two communities: Tugan Makeri and Konsoko Pissa, located in the Borgu Local Government Area. The first assault began around 3:00 AM in Tugan Makeri, where six individuals were killed, and several houses were set ablaze.

Following this, the bandits invaded Konsoko Pissa around 6:00 AM, engaging in sporadic gunfire for several hours until approximately 10:00 AM. Reports indicate that 26 people were killed during this second attack, with an unspecified number of individuals kidnapped.

The violence also resulted in the destruction of several buildings, including police outposts. Hassan Abdullahi, a resident of the affected area, noted the chaos, while Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the incidents and the casualties.
