Ballon d'Or Introduces B.O.A.T. Award for Legends
The organizers of the Ballon d'Or awards launched the B.O.A.T. (Ballon d'Or Of All Time) award, aimed at players who have won the Ballon d'Or twice or more. This initiative allows fans to revisit historic Ballon d'Or campaigns and vote for their favorite winners.
The B.O.A.T. is a public vote and is not a physical trophy or an official award presented at the ceremony. Voting is open on the official website, with results to be revealed on October 28.
The introduction of the B.O.A.T. has led to debates among fans comparing it to the Super Ballon d'Or, awarded only once on December 24, 1989, to Alfredo Di Stéfano by France Football for the best player over the previous three decades. Di Stéfano was chosen over Johan Cruyff and Michel Platini.
In 2021, Di Stéfano's award was auctioned for £187,500 after being displayed at the Real Madrid stadium.
