Bolt Driver Found Dead in Calabar, Investigation Underway

Emmanuel Effiong Ita, a 29-year-old Bolt driver residing in Ikot Effanga Mkpa, Calabar, was discovered dead in his Honda City vehicle along the Target–Udy King axis on Thursday, August 28, 2026. The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the incident through a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, on Friday.

Family members had already taken Ita's remains to the General Hospital Mortuary, where a preliminary examination indicated an injury to his chest. The police deployed personnel to the scene upon receiving the report and have since recovered the vehicle.

Relevant evidence is being preserved for further forensic and investigative examination to determine the circumstances surrounding Ita's death. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation, and the police urged the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information.
