New Zealand Work Visa Holders Can Bring Family: Guidelines

New Zealand's immigration authority has announced that foreigners living and working in the country may bring their partners and children, contingent on the type of work visa they possess. The authority has detailed four visa categories that work visa holders can sponsor for family members: 1) a visitor visa for partners, 2) a work visa for partners, 3) visitor visas for dependent children, and 4) student visas for dependent children.

All family member visas will expire concurrently with the primary holder's work visa. However, not all work visa holders can automatically sponsor family members; holders of the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and the Essential Skills Work Visa (ESWV) must meet specific job requirements.

Additionally, those on a Specific Purpose Work Visa may face further conditions based on individual circumstances. The immigration authority advises applicants to verify their visa type's eligibility for family sponsorship before applying.
