Authors’ Conference in Ibadan Celebrates Legacy of Books

On Thursday, during the second edition of the Purplebloom Publishers Authors’ Conference in Ibadan, Adejoke Oyekan, the founder of Purplebloom Publishers, articulated that a book transcends mere paper, serving as a legacy that influences people, history, and society. The conference, themed ‘Ink your dreams: Shaping the future through words’, was described by Oyekan as a gathering of voices that will outlast authors.

She encouraged authors to inspire each other, stating that their words are awaited by the world. Tinu Smith, CEO of Datina Design, discussed the role of technology in storytelling and book sales, asserting that while stories have existed for ages, technology expands their reach.

Afouda Samuel, CEO of Primus Media, spoke on social media's role in visibility, urging content creators to provide value consistently. Other speakers included Temitayo Oluyege, who focused on attracting funding for businesses, and Olufunke Arokodare, who emphasized the power of words in achieving dreams.

The conference also featured panel discussions, book readings, and spoken-word poetry.
