Argungu Fishing Festival Revives Tourism in Kebbi State

The 61st Argungu International Fishing Festival took place recently in Kebbi State, Nigeria, attracting a large number of tourists and participants. President Bola Tinubu attended the event, highlighting its importance in placing Nigeria on the global tourism map.

The festival, which had been suspended for several years, was revived under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idri, who oversaw extensive preparations to ensure its success. The Kebbi State Investment Promotion Agency, led by Director General Dr.

Muhammad Kabir Kamba, reported that foreign investors from Europe and Asia expressed interest in attending the festival. The event featured cultural displays, water competitions, and traditional box dances, with security arrangements in place to ensure safety.

The festival attracted around 50,000 fishermen from Nigeria and neighboring countries over four days. President Tinubu praised the festival as a testament to the return of stability in Kebbi State and reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to supporting tourism, agriculture, and rural development.
