Army Chief Vows to Defeat Boko Haram and ISWAP

On Saturday, Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's determination to eliminate Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a closed-door meeting in Maiduguri. This meeting involved Maj.

Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar and senior military officers from the 7 Division at Maimalari Cantonment.

The discussions were prompted by a series of renewed attacks targeting military formations and civilian communities in Borno State. Shaibu provided updates on ongoing operations and emphasized the need for routine assessments to address challenges faced by troops on the front lines.

Concurrently, Abdulkarim Lawan, the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, expressed condolences to families affected by recent attacks, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of soldiers and civilians, with around 300 residents, mostly women and children, abducted in the Ngosh community of Gwoza Local Government Area.
