Nigerian Army Defeats ISWAP Attack in Borno, Recovers Arms

The Nigerian Army successfully repelled attacks from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno, as detailed in a statement from the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Tuesday. The assault aimed to overrun military positions in Ajiri and Njimtilo but was thwarted by vigilant troops who engaged the terrorists decisively.

The JTF, coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, utilized superior firepower and tactical maneuvers to disrupt the attack, leading to a disorganized retreat of the terrorists who suffered heavy casualties. Reinforcements, including close air support from the Nigerian Army Aviation, played a crucial role in neutralizing several terrorists, including a key leader during the assault.

Following the operation, troops recovered a substantial cache of weapons and equipment, including three PKT machine guns, seven AK-47 rifles, and various ammunition types. The JTF reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining control and urged vigilance against misinformation regarding ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
