CDS Oluyede Calls for Community Action Against Terrorism

On Wednesday, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Olufemi Oluyede called on the citizens of Borno and Yobe states to take ownership in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

He made these remarks during an interview with journalists after a closed-door meeting with military leaders, including Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu and Maj. Gen.

Abdulsalam Abubakar, in Maiduguri. Oluyede highlighted the complicity of some individuals in the region, suggesting that they sabotage military efforts against the insurgents.

He referenced credible intelligence indicating that local people have been involved in the violence that has plagued the area for the past 15 years. The Chief of Defence Staff's comments come amid a resurgence of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

He emphasized the need to review strategies to combat these terrorist groups effectively, especially following a recent increase in incidents in the region.
