Shettima Pledges Overwhelming Force Against Insurgency

Vice President Kashim Shettima vowed that the Federal Government will decisively end the insurgency in the northeast of Nigeria with overwhelming force, following recent attacks in Borno State that resulted in casualties among security personnel and civilians. In a statement made on Saturday, Shettima, through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Stanlei Nkwocha, declared that the government will not be intimidated by attacks, including abductions.

He emphasized the need for a robust military response and assured citizens that those responsible for the attacks would face the full wrath of the law. Shettima also commended the resilience of the people and praised the gallantry of troops on the frontline.

Governor Babagana Zulum expressed solidarity with the victims during an interfaith breakfast service. The attacks, which targeted military formations in areas like Konduga and Gwoza, highlight the ongoing challenges posed by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province since 2009.
