Obi Criticizes Tinubu Over Borno Explosion Response

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, expressed profound concern over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria following a deadly explosion in Maiduguri, Borno State. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Obi condemned the attack, which reportedly left several dead and over 100 injured.

He highlighted the targeting of vulnerable locations, including market areas near hospitals, as evidence of the government's failure to protect lives and property. Obi described the explosion as a tragic event that underscores the growing security challenges facing the nation.

He warned that the lack of a strong national response to such attacks signals that insecurity is becoming normalized rather than being decisively addressed. Obi cited recent violent incidents across various states, including Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Sokoto, and Benue, and extended condolences to the victims' families while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

He reiterated the urgent need for the federal government to take decisive action to curb insecurity and protect Nigerian citizens.
