Borno State Unveils N2.5bn Scholarship for Aviation Students

On Thursday, Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum unveiled a N2.5 billion annual scholarship program for students at Isaac Balami University, Africa's first indigenous aviation university.

During a cheque presentation ceremony at the Government House in Maiduguri, Zulum commended the university's founder, Isaac Balami, for his commitment to education. The scholarship initiative will benefit 54 indigenous students, with Zulum directing that vulnerable students be considered for admission.

He emphasized the importance of dedication to studies and becoming good ambassadors for the state. Additionally, Zulum announced a financial support of N500,000 for students to assist with resuming expenses, with immediate fund disbursement.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilb, highlighted the government's commitment to making the scholarship program a reality, noting that 3,000 applications were received statewide, with 1,200 shortlisted for written examinations.

Balami expressed gratitude to Zulum for fulfilling the scholarship pledge and reaffirmed the university's commitment to producing skilled professionals.
