Zulum Invests N12.9bn in Borno Indigenes' Aviation Training

On Thursday night, Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno State announced a commitment of N12.9 billion for the training of 54 indigenes in aeronautics and advanced engineering disciplines. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reposition Borno as a hub for technological innovation and high-level manpower development.

The beneficiaries will undergo a five-year training program at Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics, which includes foundational pilot training. Zulum presented a cheque of N2.5 billion to cover annual tuition and associated costs.

The selection process was merit-driven, with 3,000 applications received, narrowing down to 1,200 candidates who sat for a competitive exam, ultimately resulting in 54 selected students. The program includes specializations in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, software engineering, and systems engineering.

Additionally, Zulum approved a special training fund for 56 medical doctors currently undergoing residency training, emphasizing the administration's commitment to human capital development in Borno State.
