Borno Traders Urge PEBEC to Improve International Routes

During a town hall meeting in Maiduguri, Borno traders, represented by BOCCIMA President Ahm Ashemi, called on the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) to address the rehabilitation of dilapidated international routes. Ashemi emphasized that the poor state of major routes linking Maiduguri to neighboring countries like Niger, Cameroon, and Chad hinders cross-border trade and economic activity.

He noted that the lack of efficient transport networks limits business growth and reduces government revenue. Zahrah Audu, Director General of PEBEC, urged the Borno State Government to implement business-friendly reforms to attract investment and support local businesses.

The meeting also discussed ongoing reform efforts and the need for a conducive environment for enterprise growth. Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum was commended for his leadership in implementing business reforms, with PEBEC's support in operationalizing the business enabling reform action plan.
