FG Launches Road Rehabilitation in Borno for Trade Boost

The Federal Government has commenced the rehabilitation of critical roads in Borno State, specifically the Bama-Banki and Dikwa-Gamboru-Ngala roads, aimed at reopening the state’s trade corridors and facilitating economic recovery following years of insurgency. Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, officially launched the project on Saturday.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to restore infrastructure, enhance agricultural trade, and improve security access in the region. Shettima emphasized the importance of these roads for enabling farmers to access markets, traders to reach customs, and children to attend school.

He noted that the poor state of roads has significantly hindered economic activities and increased costs for households and businesses. The project includes the construction of bridges, drainage systems, and safety facilities, reflecting the administration's commitment to sustainable development.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State expressed gratitude for the federal support and highlighted the collaborative efforts between the state and federal governments to improve infrastructure.
