FUT Minna Alumni Urges Tinubu to Protect Bosso Campus

The Federal University of Technology Minna Alumni Association, represented by Prof. Shola Gabriel Solomon, held a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, calling for intervention from President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly concerning the Bosso Campus.

The association highlighted that the Niger State Government, led by Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim, is attempting to unilaterally evict the university from its campus, which could disrupt academic programs and affect thousands of students and hundreds of staff members. The alumni association recalled the establishment of the university in 1982 and emphasized the need for outright ownership and adequate compensation to allow the state government to build a secondary school on the site.

They also expressed their commitment to pursuing legal action, including potentially reaching the Supreme Court, to protect the campus and its assets, asserting that the university is crucial for Nigeria's development and should not be subjected to political maneuvering.
