Bovi and Nomzamo to Host AMVCA 12 on May 9, 2026

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has been announced as the co-host for the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA), alongside South African actress and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

This hosting duo signifies a notable change in the AMVCA's leadership, as Bovi replaces Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who has been closely associated with the event since its inception in 2013. Bovi expressed his excitement about the opportunity, emphasizing his intent to bring energy and laughter to the prestigious ceremony.

Nomzamo Mbatha, who is also a UNHCR goodwill ambassador and an executive producer for the acclaimed series "Shaka Ilembe," will bring her elegance and experience to the stage. The 12th edition of the AMVCA will feature 32 award categories, with 18 decided by a jury and 11 open to public voting, including two new categories for indigenous languages in North and Central Africa.
