BPP and NDPC Sign MoU for Enhanced Data Protection

On May 8, 2026, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja. The agreement aims to establish a strategic collaboration between the two agencies to enhance data management and protection protocols in Nigeria.

Vincent Olatunji, CEO of NDPC, emphasizing the need for a cultural shift towards data protection to ensure national security. The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation, enabling both agencies to share best practices and address emerging cyber threats.

It also emphasizes the importance of protecting sensitive data, particularly concerning Nigerian citizens and minors. Violations of the data protection act will be treated as criminal offenses.

The partnership is seen as a significant step towards strengthening data privacy and regulatory compliance in Nigeria's increasingly digital landscape.
