NDPC to Train Officials on Data Protection in Abuja

The National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) is set to conduct a three-day training program for Permanent Secretaries and heads of parastatals in Abuja, focusing on data protection measures. Dr.

Vincent Olatunji, the head of the commission, announced this initiative, emphasizing the importance of creating awareness among public servants regarding data protection. The training aims to complement existing policies by enhancing the skills of personnel responsible for managing sensitive data.

Dr. Tolu Piu Fadip, head of the training committee, stated that the program is crucial for building a robust data privacy architecture across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The training will address the need for technical organizational measures to protect networks and databases from unauthorized access, which can lead to financial loss and reputational damage. The NDPC is committed to ensuring that personal data rights are protected, particularly during crises, thereby fostering a culture of responsible data management.
