Edo Operative Disarms Kidnappers, Rescues Victims

On Wednesday, during an ambush in the Aya Iyamo area of Etsako West Local Government Area, Yusuf Kazim, an operative of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), confronted his abductors who had kidnapped two individuals, Caleb Yusuf (25) and Suleiman. The victims were taken at gunpoint and held captive in a nearby forest after their families failed to meet ransom demands.

In a dramatic turn of events, Kazim engaged in a struggle with the kidnappers, successfully disarming one of them and recovering an AK-47 rifle. The assailants fled the scene, abandoning the weapon.

Kazim sustained severe injuries during the encounter but managed to escape alongside the two victims. Richard Balogun, the Deputy Corp Commander of the ESSC, confirmed the incident and commended Kazim for his bravery and resilience.

He noted that Kazim was receiving treatment in the hospital and praised his efforts while highlighting the serious injuries inflicted during the kidnapping. The case has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
