INEC Reports Low PVC Collection Turnout Ahead of Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported low turnout for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in various wards on October 12, 2026, as part of the ongoing exercise at Registration Area levels. In Plateau State, INEC officials at the Registration Area Centre in Giring, Jos South Local Government Area, were observed waiting for voters, while Akure South Ward 4 in Ondo State also saw no voters present at the collection point.
In contrast, a resident in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, was seen collecting his PVC at the INEC office. Niger State similarly recorded low participation, with very few residents at the PVC collection center.
INEC announced that PVCs are ready for collection by eligible registered voters, including those who completed registration-related transactions in 2025. The collection period runs from October 9 to October 15, 2026, at the Registration Area level, after which it will move to Local Government Area offices starting October 16.
The exercise is conducted daily from 9 am to 3 pm.
