ADC Demands INEC Chairman's Removal Over Election Concerns

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by National Chairman David Mark, has demanded the immediate removal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan. The ADC alleges that there is a calculated plot to enforce a one-party state in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark addressed the media in Abuja on Thursday, accusing the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of attempting to weaken opposition parties. The ADC is currently facing a leadership crisis stemming from disputes over the tenure of former National Chairman Ralph Nwosu, whose term ended in August 2022.

The party has been embroiled in multiple court cases regarding its leadership structure, which has raised concerns about its readiness for the upcoming elections. The INEC's recent decision to delist key ADC figures, including Mark and Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, has further complicated the situation.

The ADC claims these actions are part of a broader agenda to ensure Bola Tinubu becomes the sole viable presidential choice for Nigerians amidst prevailing hardships.
