Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu Appointed Nigeria's Foreign Affairs Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. This appointment follows the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions for the 2027 elections.

Additionally, Sola Enikanolaiy has been nominated as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation. The announcement was made in a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu has a distinguished career with over 30 years of experience in Nigeria's foreign service, previously serving as a permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and holding diplomatic posts in various countries including Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi. President Tinubu emphasized that these appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria's foreign policy framework, improve strategic international engagement, and deepen global partnerships, urging the new appointees to promote Nigeria's national interests and enhance economic diplomacy.
