Minister Adebayo Adelabu Resigns to Pursue Oyo Governorship

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, formally resigned from his position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's government on March 26, 2026. In his resignation letter addressed to President Tinubu at the Federal Secretariat, Adelabu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration and described his tenure as a privilege and honor.

He acknowledged the confidence placed in him and appreciated the chance to contribute to the reform and development of Nigeria's power sector under the administration's Renewed Hope agenda. Adelabu's decision to step down was driven by his intent to contest in the gubernatorial elections for Oyo State, allowing him to dedicate his time and resources fully to his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

He reaffirmed his respect and appreciation for President Tinubu and pledged to continue his commitment to national service. Adelabu previously served as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
