APC Setback as Muhammad Ismail City Endorses Pantami

On September 12, 2026, Muhammad Ismail City, the immediate past Independent Commissioner of the Independent Electoral Commission and former Executive Chairman of Akko Local Government Council, officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a meeting at Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami's office, City endorsed Pantami for the governorship of Gombe State.

He expressed that his experience as an electoral official and grassroots administrator equipped him with insights into the state's needs for its next governor. City highlighted Pantami's previous roles as Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, citing these as evidence of his administrative capabilities.

He emphasized the necessity for a leader with integrity and a proven track record, urging his political associates and Gombe residents to support Pantami's gubernatorial ambition. The statement was also countersigned by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe on behalf of the Pantamiyya Movement.
