BREAKING: APC’s Joseph Ikpea wins Edo central senatorial by-election by landslide

Dr. Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the winner of the Edo Central Senatorial by-election by a landslide victory, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Returning Officer, Kingsley, declared Ikpea victorious at the collation center in Ubiaja, Esan Local Government Area, early Sunday morning. Ikpea defeated his closest rival, Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by a significant margin.

The election was held on the 16th of August, 2024, to fill the vacant seat left by former Senator Okpebholo. In his acceptance speech, Ikpea attributed his success to the support of the people and vowed to work closely with the governor and party leaders to ensure development in Edo Central through legislation, infrastructure improvement, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and support for traditional institutions.
