ASUU Suspends Two-Week Warning Strike After Government Commitment

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the suspension of its two-week warning strike that began on October 13, 2025. The decision came after the Federal Government committed to addressing long-standing demands outlined in the 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement, such as withheld salaries, promotion arrears, and the release of funds for public universities' revitalization.

ASUU President, Professor Chris Piwuna, declared the strike suspension following a meeting with the government in Abuja. The union reserves the right to return to its initial decision if the government fails to address the issues within one month.
