Court Adjourns El-Rufai's Bail Hearing to Wednesday

The Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the bail hearing for former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai until Wednesday. The hearing was initially set for Tuesday, but the court session was postponed.

El-Rufai's counsel, Ukpong Abang, declined to provide comments on the proceedings. The former governor is currently facing a corruption trial with 10 counts of charges, including allegations of conversion and possession of public property and money laundering.

He has spent a month in detention, which has attracted widespread public attention. The court has scheduled a hearing for March 31, 2026, to address pending applications, including the bail request.

Additionally, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is involved in the case. El-Rufai was previously released on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.
