Court Adjourns El-Rufai's Bail Hearing to June

The Kaduna State High Court, presided over by Judge Dariu Khobo, has scheduled the hearing for former governor Nasir El-Rufai's bail application for the first week of June. El-Rufai is facing nine counts of corruption-related offenses filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

His defense counsel, Ukpon Akpan, opposed the repeated adjournments of the bail hearing, arguing that they are politically motivated. Akpan challenged the court's position on the bail application, stating that the court's refusal to grant bail is based on concerns that El-Rufai might interfere with the investigation.

Akpan strongly disagreed with this assessment and indicated that the defense team would take necessary legal steps to challenge the court's decision. He urged supporters of El-Rufai to remain calm and steadfast during the ongoing proceedings, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the legal process in response to the charges.
