Court Bars NLC and TUC From FCT Protest Following Legal Order

The Industrial Court in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) from embarking on planned strike protests in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The court order, issued by Justice Emmanuel Subilim, came in response to an ex parte application filed by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The court directed security agencies to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order in Abuja. The NLC and TUC had planned to protest against the FCT Administration, but the court intervened following claims of violating existing court orders.

The court adjourned the matter to February 10 for further hearing. The unions had allegedly defied previous court orders and continued industrial actions, leading to concerns about disruptions and potential lawlessness.
