Court Restrains NLC, TUC from FCT Protest Amid Legal Battle

The Nation Industrial Court in Abuja has restrained the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and others from carrying out planned protests in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The court issued an interim order following an application by the FCT Ministry, represented by Nyesom Wike, to prevent the labor unions from embarking on industrial action.

The court directed security agencies to maintain law and order in the capital. This legal action stems from a previous court order on January 27, 2026, which restrained the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) from further industrial actions.

Despite this, the claimant alleges that the unions intensified strikes, leading to the current legal battle. The court has adjourned the matter until February 10 for further hearings.
