Rivers Court Dismisses Challenge to LG Polls Legality

The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt dismissed a suit challenging the legality of the recently concluded local government elections overseen by Sole Administrator Desmond Ibas. The suit, filed by lawyer Williams Stanley, sought to nullify the election, arguing that the appointment of the administrator and the RSIEC chairman to conduct the poll were unconstitutional.

However, Justice Stephen Jumbo ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter. This case has drawn attention due to the controversy surrounding the appointment of the sole administrator and the conduct of the elections in Rivers State.
