Saleh Mamman Sentenced to 75 Years for Corruption

On May 13, 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 until his removal in 2021, to 75 years in prison. This landmark ruling, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, followed Mamman's conviction on 12 counts of money laundering related to the misappropriation of approximately N33.8 billion earmarked for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.

The court found that the prosecution, led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), successfully proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, demonstrating Mamman's indirect involvement in the diversion of public funds.
