Court Affirms PDP National Convention Validity in Ibadan

On a Friday, the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola, upheld the validity of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) national convention set for November 2025. The court ruled on an application for joinder filed in a case concerning the convention, affirming that it was properly convened and conducted in accordance with the PDP constitution and relevant electoral guidelines.

The suit was brought forth by Folahan Malomo and Adelabi, with counsel Musbau Adetunmbi seeking multiple legal reliefs. Justice Akintola granted 13 reliefs to the claimants, confirming the convention's legitimacy and dismissing objections raised against it, citing insufficient evidence to prove any procedural breaches of internal party regulations.

This ruling provides legal recognition to the Ibadan convention, alleviating uncertainties surrounding the exercise of party officials and allowing the PDP to focus on reconciliation and preparations for future elections.
