DSS Arrests Officers Over Abuja Airport Security Breach

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested five security officers in connection with a significant security breach at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The incident, which involved former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, led to a joint investigation by the DSS, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The arrested officers—Ayuba Yakubu, Murtala Inuwa, Najeeb Murtala, Musa Adamu Salihu, and Victor—are accused of receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorized entry into restricted areas and obstruct law enforcement operations. The DSS announced the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, indicating that the officers would face prosecution on February 12, 2026.

The case has been referred to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) for further legal action regarding the corrupt practices involved.
