DSS Detains Nasir El-Rufai Amid Corruption Trial

On Wednesday, the Department of State Services (DSS) detained former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai amid an ongoing corruption trial. The detention occurred shortly after the court proceedings concerning his bail application at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The court had just concluded arguments regarding the bail request when DSS officials escorted El-Rufai from the court premises under tight security. The heavy presence of security personnel raised concerns among journalists and the public.

El-Rufai's defense counsel, Oluwol Iyamu, confirmed that the court has reserved its ruling on the bail application until April 14. The case involves allegations of financial misconduct, and El-Rufai was previously arraigned alongside Amadu Sule on charges related to abuse of office and fraud.

A separate matter is scheduled for April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the defense is prepared to file necessary processes. The proceedings faced a brief stall due to a legal motion regarding the presiding judge, which was later resolved.
