El-Rufai Discusses 2027 Presidential Election Plans

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, spoke during an interview on February 13, where he addressed the potential of running for the presidency in the 2027 elections. While he stated that he does not have any current plans to pursue a presidential bid, he left the door open for future considerations, suggesting that it remains a thought in the back of his mind.

El-Rufai, who is also a member of the ADC, emphasized that he is not actively seeking the presidency at this time. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the national assembly elections will take place on February 20, 2027, while the governorship and state house assembly polls are scheduled for March 6, 2027.

This information was disclosed by INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan during a news conference.
