FCT Teachers and Students Plan Protest Over Abuja School Closures

Teachers from public primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, led by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), are set to join Nigerian students in a mass protest scheduled for July 2, 2025. The protest is in response to the continued closure of schools in Abuja under Minister Wike's administration.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) FCT, Comrade Stephen Knabayi, has accused the government of sabotaging efforts to reopen schools. The Nation Association of Nigerian Students has announced plans to stage a mass protest to address the grave injustice faced by Nigerian children due to the prolonged school closures.

The protest is a result of the failure to resolve issues leading to the closure of schools for two months. The association has issued a final call to action for the immediate reopening of affected schools in FCT and neighboring states like Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, and Kaduna.
