FG Charges Three Suspects Over Oyo School Abduction

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a 10-count charge against three suspects—Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa Bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar)—in the Federal High Court in Abuja. The charges relate to the abduction of school children and teachers from Orir Local Government Area in Oyo State.

The offenses are alleged to have occurred between January and May 2026 and include terrorism, kidnapping, and aiding and abetting the crime. The suspects are accused of being members of Darul Salam, affiliated with the proscribed terrorist organization Jamaatu Asarul Muslima fi Bilandi, also known as Ansaru.

Specific allegations against Umar include providing training and inciting members to commit acts of terror through a WhatsApp group titled "On Allah Foundation of Peace." Additionally, Umar is charged with engaging in illegal gold mining activities in Suleja, Niger State, during the same period.
