FG Files Charges Against Alleged Kidnappers in Oyo State

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a 10-count charge against three individuals—Abdulrazak Umar, Abu Khalifa, and Yunusa Musa—arrested for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Orir Local Government Area, Oyo State. The charges were filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja and include offenses related to terrorism, conspiracy, and aiding the kidnapping that occurred on May 15, 2026.

The defendants are accused of conspiring with others, including Muhammad Sani Jibril and Moham Ibrahim Khabab, to carry out the abduction, which has raised nationwide concerns about school security. The charges also allege that Umar provided training and incited members of a WhatsApp group titled "Allah Foundation Peace" to commit acts of terrorism.

Additionally, Umar is accused of engaging in illegal gold mining activities in Suleja, Niger State, which contravenes the Miscellaneous Offences Act. The case reflects ongoing issues of insecurity and the threat posed by armed groups in Nigeria.
