FG Files New Charges Against Mike Ozekhome Over Passport

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated new legal proceedings against senior advocate Mike Ozekhome, filing a fresh 12-count criminal charge in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja. The charges allege that Ozekhome used a forged Nigerian passport in relation to a property dispute involving Ponfa Useni, the son of the late Jeremiah Useni, in the United Kingdom.

This development follows a previous case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) concerning corruption-related offenses, which was struck out by the FCT High Court, leading to the withdrawal of charges. The new allegations are detailed in a fresh charge sheet filed in court, and proceedings are expected to commence following Ozekhome's arraignment, although the date for the hearing has not yet been announced.
